Do you know that the Philippines sits on the world's
'coffee belt', an area conducive to the quality of the plant.
But many local farmers do not have sufficient knowledge
to develop sustainable coffee farms.
Combined by limited capital and lack of technology, the coffee industry is challenged.

We at MoCa began our journey by using our ancestors stories and wisdom for our everyday work. But not just from our past; we honor our share by innovating and adapting to meet the needs of today and the future while staying true to our roots. We are proud to carry forward the legacy of those who came before us, while paving the way for generations to come.

Alfonso Cavite Ancestors

Our Alfonso Cavite roots began from our ancestors, Hermenigildo Avinante (4th and 12th Gobernadorcillo of Alfonso Cavite). He had a son named Fernando. Fernando had a son named Gaudencio (who had a son named Julian), Julian is the father of the founder of MoCa.

During the Spanish Colonial Government the cabeza de barangay or gobernadorcillo was the highest political position which a Filipino native could aspire.

The town was established on
May 16, 1859 and was namedd
ALFONSO in honor of
King Alfonso XII of Spain
(Avinante, 2009)

A great grandfather of the founder's mother Teresita de las Alas Costa(before marriage) donated the land of Cavite State University.
Teresita's father Paulino E. Costa was the
principal of the Univesity from 1953-1954.

Paulino E. Costa (founder's maternal grandfather) of Indang Cavite majored in Agriculture minor in Mathematics. He graduated from University of California (UC) in Berkeley year 1920-1925.
Trivia: UCLA was an extension of UC Berkeley from year 1919-1925 before becoming it's own University year 1927, officially in 1929. That's why UC's mascot is a bear and UCLA's are bruins (baby cub).
Paulino, travelled by ship and took him 3.5 weeks from the Philippines to California.
A principled man, topped the civil board exam and won 1st place in some Agriculture

Meet The Founder
I'm a passionate entrepreneur. My journey started in the insurance industry when I joined Prulife UK year 2001. I gathered a lot of awards as a financial advisor and graduated with silver medal in the paid elite Prulife UK program training. I found out I like educating people, barely three years in the company I was promoted to Unit Manager at the end of the year I bagged the Triple A award published in nationwide newspaper. Before all these, I was employed with Thai International Airlines.

Madora known as Dox in Manila and Beth in Alfonso Cavite
When I got married 2007, I decided to home school my children. Before that, I have started several entrepreneurial ventures like laundry shop and travel agency. I also heavily studied financial intelligence. During the pandemic in year 2020 we permanently moved in to my parents' home town in Alfonso Cavite and I got introduced to farming and the coffee business.
I am not a Q grader but I have read a lot about coffee. I am happy to say that even true blooded Alfonsenos are now loving their very own Barako and Robusta thru our MoCa brand.
